A Private Practice on the Westside
Therapy that
takes its time.
I am Silvia Pomares — a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Mar Vista, Los Angeles. My work is for those ready to look beneath the symptom, to ask the harder questions, and to think about a life with care.
On the work
A different kind of attention.
Most therapy moves quickly — toward tools, techniques, a way to feel better by next Tuesday. Psychoanalytic work moves differently. It asks what your suffering is about, not only how to manage it. It listens for what is being said beneath what is being said.
This is therapy for people who sense that the surface of their life isn’t the whole story — and who want a thoughtful companion in finding out what is.

How we meet
In the room,
or on screen.
A practice that favors in-person work where the geography allows — and a real telehealth option for those further afield, or for the weeks when life is in the way.
01 · Preferred
In-person
Weekly sessions in a quiet private office in Mar Vista. The container of the room is, for psychoanalytic work, not incidental — it is part of the method.
02 · Available
Telehealth
Secure video sessions for clients elsewhere in California or Massachusetts, and for established in-person clients during travel.
The therapist
Silvia Pomares,
LMHC, LPCC

Originally trained in clinical psychology in Madrid, with an MA in mental health counseling and psychoanalytic specialization from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, I have been in practice for 14 years. My work is with adults and couples navigating the kinds of questions that don’t come with easy answers — about love, work, identity, the past as it lives in the present.
I see clients in person in Mar Vista, and by secure video anywhere in California or Massachusetts. Sessions are held in English or Spanish.
